Permit-aware stump grinding for Lake Country's 140+ lakes. We handle the Shoreland Protection Ordinance research and use shoreline-careful equipment.
Lake-property stump work is fundamentally different from inland grinding. Waukesha County's Shoreland Protection Ordinance applies to vegetation removal within 1,000 feet of any lake or 300 feet of any stream. Most stump grinding inside that zone doesn't require a separate permit (the tree removal that preceded it might have), but we always verify before we work. It protects you from any retroactive enforcement issue and protects the lake from incidental damage.
We handle the permit research. Send us your address and a photo of the stump.

Lake Country shorelines are dominated by water-tolerant species that often die or fall in storms. We see these constantly:
Tree removal in the Shoreland zone (within 1,000 ft of a lake or 300 ft of a stream) requires a Vegetation Removal Permit from Waukesha County. Stump grinding alone — where the tree is already down — usually doesn't trigger a separate permit, but we always verify before grinding lakefront jobs.
Pewaukee Lake, Lac La Belle, Fowler Lake, Pine Lake, North Lake, Beaver Lake, Okauchee Lake, Nagawicka Lake, Upper and Lower Nashotah Lakes, and Genesee Lake are all in Waukesha County and subject to the Shoreland Protection Ordinance. The 1,000-foot lake buffer / 300-foot stream buffer is standardized across the county.
